Additional Services and Products

Fertilizer (Blended)

The fertilizer we use is a high quality product not found in consumer stores. Our fertilizer is blended with soil conditioner, which not only improves your lawn but gives us a competitive advantage. Over time your soil quality can deteriorate, so by introducing small amounts of soil conditioner every time we fertilize it helps maintain your soil at proper pH levels so nutrients can be absorbed by your lawn more efficiently.

Ph Soil Test

The pH level in the soil is healthy when it is between 6-7. At this level your soil is not too acidic or alkaline and will allow your grass to grow its best. When your grass is having difficulties growing it can be a sign that the soil might be too acidic and is when our technician can test the soil to determine if it’s at proper levels.

Chinch Bugs

Chinch bugs are a common tiny insect (3mm) found in Ontario lawns that feed on grass stems by piercing the plant tissue and sucking out the juice. July/August is the time this activity occurs and egg laying begins. Signs of Chinch Bug damage include circular yellow/brown areas that look dry and watering shows no improvement. Chinch bugs are automatically treated for our Premium Program customers.

Granulated Compost

This premium product adds nutrients to your lawn and improves overall soil quality.

Other benefits include:
  • A great choice to include with your overseeding to improve seed germination and grass quality.
  • Increases organic matter, nutrient uptake & microbial activity
  • Increases drought tolerance and irrigation efficiency
  • Applied over your lawn, the pellets dissolve into the soil quickly after rain or irrigation.

Overseeding

Give new life to your lawn. Our premium (certified) blend of grass seeds are 99.9% weed-free and infused with endophytes.

Endophytes repel and prevent insects from feeding on your grass blades/roots at the cellular level. A favourite pick to add to any of our programs.

Benefits:
  • Lawn stays thick and dense
  • Improved disease resistance
  • Repairs bare spots
  • Reduces new weed growth
Aeration

Aeration removes thousands of small cores of soil 1” to 3” in length from your lawn. This application is strongly recommended at least once a year. The holes created by aeration provide the following benefits:

  • Catches fertilizer and water
  • Allows roots to grow towards the holes and thicken in the process
  • Lets oxygen and water to move more freely into the root zone
  • Relieves pressure from compacted soil
  • Helps in clearing thatch and preventing fungus and insects
Soil Conditioner (Lime)

Soil Conditioner is used to maintain or neutralize the pH balance (acidic levels) in the soil. High acidic levels may decrease turf growth and the effectiveness of fertilizers, water and other nutrients to penetrate the lawn. Most turf grasses grow best between pH 6.0 and pH 7.0. Green Spa tests the pH level of each lawn and recommends this treatment if pH levels are low.

Grub Control (Nematodes) 1-Bag

Grubs are tiny white insects that live under the soil and feed on the roots of your lawn. Common signs that you have grubs on your lawn are digging of your lawn by animals and yellow areas that don’t get better even after watering. To control grubs nematodes is the only product available to use in Ontario. Nematodes are extremely time and temperature sensitive. Most lawn care companies apply them during regular working hours when conditions are not favourable. The hot sun and lack of moisture instantly spoils the product wasting your money and providing no results. For effective grub control it must be applied in the evening and watered-in immediately. To accomplish this we recommend our customers to apply the Grub Control. Applying our grub control is simple and safe (mix organic powder with water and apply on your lawn with a watering can or hose-end sprayer.)

Although we strongly recommend you apply the grub control yourself we can accommodate customer request for our technicians to apply the product for you during regular hours.

  • Fresh/Strong nematodes right from the manufacturer
  • Delivered to you chilled with a cold pack to maintain freshness
  • Easy to apply with full instructions
  • Grub control that actually works
Weed Control (Fiesta)

Fiesta is an effective liquid weed control product that is sprayed on your lawn. The active ingredient in Fiesta is iron, which is naturally toxic to broad leaf weeds at the cellular level.

Our programs include 4 scheduled applications - Spring, 2x in the Summer and Fall. By providing 4 applications (instead of 3) we can hit the weeds more frequently and provide you with optimal weed control.

Benefits:
  • 4 applications throughout the season
  • Natural and safe
  • No watering or any maintenance required after application
  • Kills weeds without harming your lawn
  • Weed death in 48 hours (plant turns black/brown and eventually disappears)
